Our Team

Optometrist / Owner – Sally Nethercott MSc. FCOptom. Dip Tp(IP).

I set up the Practice in 1985, shortly after moving to Tadworth. As many of my long standing patients will remember, I started the Practice in our house so that I could also look after my young children. In 1997, we moved into premises recently vacated by the NatWest Bank, and have not looked back since!

My philosophy is to provide the highest standards of clinical care, whilst allowing plenty of time for individual attention. I have invested in some of the best available optical technology, and have also kept my own knowledge and skills up to date through continuing professional education. In 2005 I was awarded an MSc in Clinical Optometry. In 2012 I was awarded a Diploma in Therapeutics so I can now prescribe drugs for eyes within guidelines set by the College of Optometry.

This year we have become a limited company I am one of three Directors.

Dispensing Optician and Contact Lens Fitter, Chris Bourton FBDO CL

Chris started here in 2015. He really likes the ethos of the practice and has taken over the management of the Dispensing and Reception area. His main job is the dispensing and fitting of spectacles. Since we became a limited company in 2019 he is also a Director.

Optometrist – Alvin Ieong

MSc. MCOptom. Dip Tp(IP). ProfCertGlau
Alvin is a principal optometrist at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and glaucoma clinic lead at St Georges Hospital Tooting. His current clinics include glaucoma, Lasik/refractive surgery, paediatrics, medical contact lens and casualty. He performs a laser list inclusive of capsulotomy after cataract surgery, laser iridotomy and selective laser trabeculoplasty for glaucoma treatment at St Georges Hospital. He has supervised pre-registration students since qualifying in 1995 and has several publications in peer reviewed ophthalmology journals.

He enjoys spending his Thursday and Saturday mornings giving our patients very comprehensive eye examinations and performing lacrimal syringing on those patients with problematic watery eyes. His appointments are now much in demand.

He is now a Director of Nethercott Opticians Ltd

The Two Masketeers

We would like to give a big thank you to all our patients and friends who have helped support various charities by purchasing a mask covering hand made by Karen and Tanya, two members of our staff at Nethercotts Opticians

Karen and Tanya have personally purchased all the materials, trimmings and have so far made over two hundred masks for us all to wear during this pandemic and are continuing still to make more.

They have managed to raise over £2,500 so far with 100% of all money taken going towards the various charities.

The Royal British Legion, Air Ambulance ( Kent, Surrey and Sussex ) Marie Curie, the K9 partners support dogs and the Royal National Institute of the blind ( RNIB ) have all received donations from their hard work.

Thank you again for your support and well done Karen and Tanya for their outstanding work.
